Blood Flow Restriction Training
How does it work?
We apply a bandage to your arm or leg that inflates to a specific blood pressure. This decreases blood flow to the limb. Then we lead you through a series of exercises for 10-15 minutes.
Decreasing the blood flow for a short period of time creates a reduced-oxygen environment. This allows for increased strength and muscle growth.
Who should try it?
BFRT is an effective tool for those who cannot exercise their muscles at peak level due to injury or surgery. It also lets you get back to higher level activities more quickly and safely, while increasing your endurance.
Originally used in rehabilitating injuries in the military, BFRT is now a common therapy for professional and collegiate athletes. There are only a few types of patients who would not benefit from using BFRT. These include patients who have a history of blood clots, blood flow disorders, or active cancer in the area.
The method itself is extremely safe and the device used is nationally approved by the FDA.
